The abnormal plasma cells in myeloma produce large amounts of a protein called monoclonal immunoglobulin, which build up in the body and damage organs such as the kidneys.

4. Targeted therapy : Targeted therapy uses drugs that specifically target cancer cells without harming healthy cells. This type of therapy is used in combination with chemotherapy.
